I think that every now and then, many blogs should all blog about the same topic, and we should call it a “blog-a-thon”.

Today's blog-a-thon topic?

“The McDonald's Guy”, whatever that means to you, and please provide a good story about him... (And track me back too...)

Update: McSwarthy Rants. And Koosh McMoose.

quickSub is a Javascript function that adds intelligence to the feed button on your web page. Just roll your mouse over the example above, and you'll be instantly greeted by one-click subscription links to the most popular aggregators.

Really cleans up the mess of buttons that one must have to ease subscription to your feed. Also supports a lot more than anyone would do by themselves. I expect I'll try and use the scripts sometime this week, and reduce the size my “bugs” section to something more manageable. Plus I'll “fix” the coffee mug in the upper-right-hand corner of the site that is a bit confusing to most.

...Spork was finally able to locate a practice area. I don't want to give too much information since we'll need to focus on playing and, let's face it, actually remembering our songs. If we announced the location, we'd surely have to contend with swarms of Spork-starved fans.

And this, my friends, is a good thing.

Black 47 (a name deriving from the year 1847, the blackest year of the Irish potato famine) is a New York-based band made up of Irish expatriates and led by songwriter/playwright Larry Kirwan. In addition to Kirwan (vocals, guitar), the band consists of Joseph Mulvanerty (uilleann pipes), Fred Parcells (trombone, tin whistle, vocals), Geoff Blythe (saxophone), Thomas Hamlin (percussion), and Andrew Goodsight (bass). Black 47 plays a mixture of traditional Celtic folk music, rock & roll, rap, and reggae, all topped by the idiosyncratic songwriting and persona of Kirwan

They put on a great show. Highly recommended.

Because it contains the most remarkable concentration of nutrients known in any food, plant, grain or herb. Its the highest protein food- over 60% all digestible vegetable protein. It has the highest concentration of beta carotene, vitamin B-12, iron and trace minerals and the rare essential fatty acid GLA. These make spirulina a great whole food alternative to isolated vitamin and minerals.

I'm trying to eat healthier, and for me that means less fast food. Juices are big these days and go great with a “power bar” or granola (for fiber and other nutrients). And the juice joints and juice guys love the spirulina.

Sure this guy seems to be very excited about the “super-algae”, and might be willing to have a death match of pseudo-science with the “late-nite coral calcium guy”, but it is green, and green is good, eh?

Next up? A crazy thing that I've heard of called “exercise”, but I'm not sure that it has any proven results yet...

Lately I've been “discovering” a bunch of new stuff that I like, or that I like more than I thought:

And a few things that I don't like as much as I should, because they don't work like they should:

  • International Phone Cards
  • RCA Products

Anyone else have any new favorites that I should check out? Or things to avoid? (Or at least not get your hopes up about?)

Yes we can!

And it is very loud when they do it. I think I will have some words with Bob the Builder.

Sure, that doesn't make any sense, maybe a three-fer Thursday would, but this exciting news leaked:

A document leaked onto the Internet purporting to be a full specification for Nintendo's forthcoming DS handheld includes a touch panel input device, 802.11 wireless LAN support and a 3D graphics system.

Today, after four years of discovery battles and summary judgment briefing, the trial court ruled that Nader's use was, in fact, fair. A strong victory against overzealous copyright and trademark ownership and for non-commercial political speech.

Outstanding. A victory for Nader. A victory for free speach. A victory for America.

Microsoft Corp. Director of Product Management for SQL Server Tom Rizzo confirmed that Microsoft expects to ship both Yukon—Microsoft's code name for the next major update of its SQL Server database—and Whidbey—the coming update of Visual Studio—in the first half of 2005. In the meantime, a third beta has been added to the current beta schedule of Yukon, with 15 beta customers from across all major vertical industries signing up to run Yukon Beta 3 live in production settings before giving the thumbs up for Microsoft to make the product generally available.

[ Yahoo! News ]

It's great that Microsoft wants to get it right, but they should stop hyping the future so much. Most articles in .NET mags these days at least mention what Whidbey will do, if not only cover what Whidbey will be doing. I'm rather anxious to get it, but if they keep pushing it back, I'll be sick of it by the time it gets here.
