If you didn't see his FoodTV show, catch at least one episode. If you did see his FoodTV show, I'm guessing that you are TiVoing this right now...

FWIW, I read two of his books and enjoyed "Kitchen Confidential" a lot more than "A Cook's Tour" ... which really surprised me.

I never liked Bourdain until I saw the episode of "A Cook's Tour" when he goes back to the French town where he grew up. He does all his "stops" with his brother and it was a really good episode.

I used to think Bourdain was an arrogant jerk but that episode really humanized him for me and I have a new respect for him. I'll definitely have to give this new show a try.

Sure he's a bit arrogant, but he's a New Yorker. After watching the show a while, I really got to appreciate him. And after reading Kitchen Confidential, you realize he's not arrogant at all.

Plus the Cook's Tour where he goes to the French Laundry shows how much he is in love with the craft and food itself.
